In the 21st century, there has been an accelerated evolution of technology, which continues to facilitate numerous innovations in fields related to human life and society. In response to the need for rapid advances in healthcare, as part of the “Comprehensive 10-year Strategy for Cancer Control,” the government has focused on heavy ion radiotherapy, which is highly effective for cancer treatment using radiation. For its realization, an accelerator complex dedicated for heavy ion radiotherapy was developed as the world’s first attempt.

As an engineering company that supports the operation, management, use, and design of accelerators, AEC continues to work in the field of advanced cancer treatment, involved with the macro perspective of operating a huge system as well as the micro perspective of precise control.

We would like to continue to play an important role in supporting the operation and maintenance of accelerators using the knowledge and skills accumulated through engineering work at the accelerator facility of the National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST, former NIRS), which is in a leading position regarding the utilization of heavy ion beams.
